  • Overview

    The Laundry Worker is responsible for receiving, processing, folding and ironing personal clothing and linens for residents.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions

     

    * 
    Folds all rough and dry items following established procedures and performs utility chores such as: shaking out linen, folding, receiving and filling in as needed.
    * 
    Hangs all resident''s dresses on individual rack hangers, folds and wraps residents'' personal clothing, stacks in hampers for return to floors and stores folded items on shelves or in their designated location.
    * 
    Works on small piece folder and tunnel finisher.
    * 
    Feeds sheets, pillowcases, napkins, tablecloths, etc, through flatwork ironer and reports any malfunction of equipment of the Laundry Supervisor and/or Director.
    * 
    Delivers clean linen and personal clothing to all floors, picks up soiled linen from all floors as required and prepares daily floor linen cart and load trucks.

    Sorts, marks and prepares resident's personal clothing for washing and maintains record of personal clothes processed.
    * 
    Received ironed material, stocks and counts. Maintains records of daily processes items from flat work ironer, small piece folder and tunnel finisher.

    Assists other employees where needed and maintains friendly working atmosphere, professional attitude and professional appearance.
    * 
    Promotes the organization's and department's image, philosophy and policies and learns and follows organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
    * 
    Learns and follows assigned safety, security and fire procedures and reports any accidents and dangerous situations immediately.
    * 
    Maintains confidentiality of organizational and resident information and performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
    Experience: Less than 6 months
    License, Registration, and / or Certification Requirement: No
    Minimum Knowledge: Requires basic employment skills in clerical, service, or manual areas.
    Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
