Overview

The clinical educator provides teaching to clinical and non-clinical long term care workers who are participating in professional development training through the New York State funded Workforce Investment Organization at ArchCare. Provides focused, hands-on education on a variety of topics in the provision of Long Term Care in both the home and long term care facilities. Develops and facilitates courses on paraprofessional competencies in long term care, telemedicine, quality improvement and other topics in long term care. Assures compliance with regulatory requirements and standards. Other courses to be taught will include technology in LTC, behavioral health training,  health literacy and cultural competency.

Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of the Director of Learning and Organizational Development, designs and teaches professional development courses to long term care workers in a variety of long term care related subjects.
  • Creates curricula for adult learners employed in Long Term Care.
  • Tailors curriculum as needed to best meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
  • Brings knowledge of best practices in the provision of LTC and documentation strategies.
  • Works with the WIO program coordinator to track attendance, participation and course completion of enrolled students.
  • Utilizes standardized tools or testing, in addition to co-visits and feedback to monitor effectiveness of nursing education.
  • Remains current with trends and changes in the Long Term Care industry.
  • Has knowledge of Medicare requirements.
  • Assist in the development and provision of a Nurse Fellowship program for recent RN graduates.

 

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Education required

Education Desired

  • Master’s degree in nursing or education or health related field highly desirable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a long term care setting, home care experience, and at least 2 years in an educational position preferred. Specialty certification in telemedicine, technology or other relevant skills desired.

License Requirements

  • Currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State.

Skill Requirements

  • Computer literacy at an advanced level required.
