Overview

Inspects, adjusts, repairs and/or replaces building equipment before it breaks down.

 

Responsibilities

 

Scheduled inspections of all building equipment to insure proper operation.  This equipment includes but is not limited to:

  • Boilers and Auxiliaries
  • Switchboard and electrical distribution
  • Pumps
  • HVAC systems and controls
  • Compressed air system
  • Refrigeration units and auxiliaries
  • Fire Safety Equipment

 

Repairs and maintains complex machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturers’ specifications, using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.

 

Dismantles, removes repairs and/or replaces defective parts in equipment and devices. Lubricants and cleans parts.   

 

Performs carpentry, masonry, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical repairs and painting as required.

 

Keeps accurate records of services performed.

 

Performs related duties as required and unrelated duties (ie: Fire team, Emergency and Disaster procedures) for the benefit of the home.

 

Available to have schedules changed based on the needs of the facility.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of five (5) years experience as a plant maintenance mechanic required.

Mechanical/Technical school graduate preferred.

The ability to test and hold FDNY Certifications once hired and maintain Certificates throughout employment at Facility.

 

Electrical experience preferred 

Must be able to demonstrate strong electrical and troubleshooting skills.
