Responsibilities

The Dawn Green Hospice at ArchCare at Mary Manning Walsh Home is dedicated to delivering comprehensive palliative and end-of-life care to patients with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses whose needs cannot be met in the home setting.

 

The Hospice C.N.A will work closely as part of the IDT to ensure that patients receiving palliative and end of life care needs are met with compassion, dignity and high level of quality care. Ideal candidate for this position must:

  • Be able to explain the difference between the medical model and the hospice philosophy of care
  • Identifies interdisciplinary team related regulations and with them

  • Describes ethical practice in end‐of‐life care

  • Demonstrates courtesy, respect, inclusiveness and non‐judgment with respect to patients/families and fellow

    team members

  • Utilizes critical thinking

  • Provides appropriate closure with families in compliance with organizational protocols

  • Serves as a role model for fellow team members in providing closure that is firm yet sensitive to family needs

  • Promotes patient/family centered care, advocacy and support

Qualifications

* Current NYS nursing assistant certification 

* Current CPR and first aid certifications a plus

* One year nursing experience is a plus
