Performance Management

The equipment aide will be responsible for maintaining all department equipment in a ready state as recommended by the manufacturer and as indicated in the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center’s infection Control manual. The equipment aide will perform oxygen rounds daily in order to insure that each nursing unit’s supply of ambulating tanks is maintained. He/she will also perform liquid oxygen round in the garage twice per shift and change tanks that are empty to maintain the facilities main oxygen supply. He/she will also deliver ‘H’ oxygen tanks to those hospital units for continuous use by residents who require oxygen and for whom there is neither an oxygen concentrator nor piped oxygen. The equipment aide will respond to calls from the various units, and provide them with equipment and oxygen. The equipment will be left at the nurse’s station for set up. Equipment logbooks will be established and maintained to ensure that equipment can be located; and that maintenance is performed as per the manufacturer.



Performance Management

Provides services that are commensurate with the mission and Vision statements of the Terence Cardinal Cooke Healthcare Center
Complies with all policies and procedures of the Center.
Utilizes clean and sterile techniques as prescribed by the Center’s Infection Control Policy and Procedure Manual.
Assembles, cleans, and disinfects respiratory care equipment used to perform his/her duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains all supply and equipment inventories



Performance Management

Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
License, Registration, and / or Certification Requirement: Yes
Minimum Knowledge: Requires basic employment skills in clerical, service, or manual areas.
Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Minimum of High School Diploma

License Requirements
FDNY G-17 Bulk Medical Gas Certificate of Fitness

Skill Requirements
Must be able to place “H” tanks on carriers and move them through the Center, also, must be able to move cryogenic liquid oxygen tanks. Must be able to push and pull various types of respiratory care equipment.
